Summer is winding down, school is back is session, college students get back into the swing of the everyday routine. School, work, study, eat, sleep, repeat.
It is the first class of the semester, You walk in to the class room, sit in a seat that you know will be your "unassigned assigned seat" for the rest of the semester. The professor is at the front of the room going over the syllabus and all of the classroom policies. This is going to be the same as every other class for the rest of the week. It's pretty difficult to stay interested during syllabus week and Ron Swanson accurately states how we feel oh so well.
We all know that one kid in the front of the room who keeps raising their hand and asking questions that are completely unnecessary. If we all channel our inner Ron (which I'm sure most of us do in this situation) this seems quite fitting.
As the week progresses the assignments start to trickle in. Chances are there is at least one essay for you to do. So, let's be honest, we have had all summer off with no papers to work on, no research, and we didn't have to make sense. We might feel a little unmotivated to bust out that first paper or not even be able to make sense of out words and thoughts long enough to write a sentence. Ron Swanson, you hit the nail on the head with this one.
Every college student knows the mid-week, "do I have to go?" struggle all too well. Hump day is the hardest day of the week and as an "adult" you can choose to go to class or not. (However, beware of the slippery slope you skip once and soon you've skipped eight times.) But the beauty of college is that you kind of get to decide for yourself. So, as Ron Swanson would say.
Well, you finally decide to be somewhat responsible and go to class. Your body is sitting in the seat but you just don't have to energy to listen to Modern World Civilization for a full 90 minutes. Your facial expression in class might look something like this.
This week a professor might ask you to "think outside the box" and write a paper over something new. Well, chances are, you are going to procrastinate and then you will have to rush to finish it. Honestly, most of us would probably pick a nap over homework any day. So, who cares if the assignment good because in the mind of a college student no one has the time to be creative. After all.
We all might relate to this one a little bit too much. It's Friday afternoon, you have had a full morning of classes, but you have the whole night ahead of you. I personally always reach for the coffee pot (or Keurig to be exact) and find myself getting pumped for the night out ahead of me. But, sometimes college students have to decide.
When weekends roll around you can't wait to see all your friends, go out and have some fun, blow off a little steam, and socialize, but sometimes it's just a little too much. This one speaks for itself, well said Ron.
Ok, it's Sunday afternoon and you're sitting in a pile of homework that you neglected to do over the weekend. Naturally you are pretty annoyed with the situation, even if it is your own fault. You have two options, buckle down and do it or run away from your problems!! (I don't really recommend the second option)
The probability of you having a group project this semester is at least 50 percent, and I couldn't word this any better.
Monday has come again. You wake up, look in the mirror, and tell yourself, "keep your tears in their eyes where they belong" in a very Ron Swanson fashion. You have a long week ahead of you once again, but you can do it! Channel your inner Ron.
I'm going to leave you with this one last Ron Swanson moment simply because it is my favorite.
