Back At College For The First Time in 6 Months

PSU, I have missed you.

Back At College For The First Time in 6 Months

Being back at Penn State, my home away from home, is a very bittersweet feeling. I am so happy to be healthy and reconnect with all of my friends that decided to come back to campus this semester. I get to walk downtown and see campus life once again- only this time there are some unusual things that must take place compared to previous semesters.

One main thing that is different is everybody wearing masks. I have seen almost every person downtown wearing a mask, which is good because I know that wearing a mask will allow my fellow students and I more time on campus (which is a VERY limited amount of time with online classes). Another unusual thing is the layout of the HUB. For any PSU student, you are well aware of how busy the HUB can get during certain times of the day. Now, it feels like a ghost town. The tables are spread 6 ft apart, there are more hand sanitizing stations, and best of all barely a line for food, including Chick-fil-A. Walking around campus and seeing empty sidewalks can be little disheartening, and it almost feels like classes have not actually began since it is very empty.

I know this will be Penn State's new normal, but I'm waiting for the day where Penn State will go back to its natural feeling.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
