Bachelorette Of The Week: Kelly Allen
Kelly Allen

Looking for love, fellas? Search no more! This week's bachelorette is a sophomore majoring in journalism and design, and she's a total catch. Originally from Mequon, WI (or "The Quon" as the kids like to call it), she's an active member of Phi Mu and magazine club. When she's not drinking coffee or eating pizza, you can find her editing articles as one of our beloved editors at Odyssey. I know you're ready to learn more...so meet Kelly Allen!

1. What makes you qualified as BOTW?

I’ve been single since the 7th grade (if middle school relationships even count), so you could say I’m a pretty seasoned bachelorette. I know how to live that #single life. Also, I got nominated for this, so there’s someone out there who thinks I’m qualified.

2. Describe your love life in five words or less.

In a relationship with coffee.

3. Tell us about your most embarrassing moment.

I can’t narrow it down to most embarrassing, but my most recent embarrassing moment was when I tripped in heels two weekends ago and fell face first to the ground. It was both physically and emotionally painful.

4. Name something most people don’t know about you.

I didn’t start liking pizza until last year. (I know, IDK how I survived either.)

5. What's the best way for a guy to impress you?

Own a dog. Bonus points if you have more than one.

6. Best compliment you've ever received?

A guy slid into my Twitter DMs to compliment my writing, and it was actually the best thing ever. It needs to be shared word-for-word:

7. Name three things on your bucket list:

1. Go to a drive-in movie theater

2. New Year's in New York City

3. Meet/hang out/go shopping with Sarah Jessica Parker (I was in a Bloomingdale’s in NYC once, and she was literally 10 feet away from me, and I had no idea until she was going down an escalator *tears*)

8. It's Friday night, where are we mostly to find you?

Sally's ;) or wherever there's pizza.

9. Biggest pet peeve?

People who agree to do something then don’t follow through. What’s the point of saying you’ll do something if you’re not going to do it?? I really don’t get it. It's nonsense. That and slow walkers. Slow walkers are the worst.

10. What are you most scared of?

Besides death, I guess I would say falling in love then falling out of it.

11. The most attractive quality in a guy is ______________.

Someone who knows what he wants (has goals, ambitions, ideal plans for the future).

12. What are your summer plans?

I'll be in MPLS all summer, so hmu!!

What are you waiting for? Go check out Kelly's flawless insta @kellyallen5, slide into her DM's to reserve a date with this gem. Then, use this form to nominate your single and ready to mingle friends for a chance to become the next bachelor or bachelorette of the week.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
