Social media almost immediately combusted into flames when it was announced that long time Bachelor loser and professional reality television villain, Nick Viall, was annouced as the next star of ABC's hit dating show. I along with everyone else was shocked by the announcement, but after thinking about it a little it really doesn't come as much as a shock.
Look at what the producers had to pick from, Jojo's season of The Bachelorette. Which was by far the dullest in a LONG time. I mean sorry to sound harsh but Jojo herself was pretty dull. I honestly didn't care who she picked because I wasn't invested in her choice. She basically narrowed down the pool to the most boring, Vineyard Vine wearing, country music blasting, whiter than white guys she could possibly find. Towards the end of the season Luke and Chase were actually becoming HARDER to tell apart, shouldn't that work the other way around?
The producers really had no other options that would create TV that people would actually want to watch. The frontrunner for the job was Luke, who although seemed like a nice enough guy (even though he did use his friend's death to score points on a date with a girl he hardly knew on national TV....) is about as interesting as watching me clip my toenails. Also he wanted to be a singer and I could not imagine having to sit through a season of him attempting to launch that career.
Now everyone is complaining about how Luke is more deserving of "love" than Nick is.... give. me. a. break. If you think ANY of these people are here for love your head is thicker than Chad's. That's actually why I'm okay with Nick as the Bachelor. I know exactly who he is, I know he's going to create a train wreck express that I can't wait to watch. Everyone needs to stop taking this show so seriously and enjoy it for what it is worth. Vapid, horrible people pretending to be in love for television time and to score some Instagram followers along the way.
