Missed last night’s episode? Don’t read this until you’ve seen it. (Spoiler alert)

The “dramatic” finale of The Bachelor concluded last night with Nick proposing to Vanessa, even though it wasn’t really shocking if you knew the news that Vanessa won the show had been leaked weeks ago. Still, even though I knew what would happen, I found myself heartbroken when Raven was sent home, just because she seemed to make Nick so happy and it was so obvious she wanted to be engaged to this man. Even on the after show when she talked to Nick, she seemed (slightly) pissed. I hope good things happen for her on Paradise this summer.

Though I saw Nick and Vanessa’s televised happy ending, I still have a couple of questions.

One: Will Nick and Vanessa last? This is a hard one to predict because there have been so many matches on this show that are hit-or-miss. Either they break up pretty quickly, or they go on to get married (Sean and Catherine are probably the best examples of this). It seemed to me, while I was watching Vanessa talk to Chris about her and Nick’s relationship, that there were definitely challenges in their way to make it as a couple. The fact that she lives in Canada, and he lives in the States is a biggie, but she did mention she’d move to California and start over again. Hm...did she mean it? What about the fact that they are both passionate, strong-willed people? This quality could work in their favor...or backfire right in their faces.

Two: Do they really love each other? Is love enough? Fans on Twitter pointed out last night that they thought the couple seemed tense and awkward on After the Final Rose. It makes me wonder if all those passionate emotions that came through during Nick’s proposal were actually heartfelt, or were they just for the audience? They didn’t sugarcoat things when revealing the realities of their relationship. I think some people might assume from that they are really struggling, but I personally think it might actually be a good sign. If they both have a more realistic view that they really didn’t get a chance to get to know one another on this show, then it might lead them to be more honest and open with one another, instead of just pretending they’re “so in love” right after being on a show like this.

And three: When can Corrine get her own spin-off show? It’s amazing how quickly my intense dislike for this girl turned into such love when she left the show. She was one of the only things that made this season entertaining (sorry any Nick-fans out there), and I have a special place in my heart for her sassiness, Raquel, and her dedicated descriptions of cheese pasta.

Overall, I’m happy for Nick and Vanessa, but I certainly have my doubts. Anyway, onto bigger and better things, because Rachel is going to kill it as the next Bachelorette. Only two more months!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
