Why The Baby Squirrels Already Love Alpha Gamma Delta
Gina Kokosky

I decided to rush this semester to find a sense of community on campus. I wanted the typical sorority experience of finding best friends that will order late night dominoes with me, sit with me in the library, and talk about boys. I wanted pretty Instagram pictures and an excuse to get all dressed up for formal. I thought joining Greek life was a great way to add to my college experience and meet some new people.

Since joining the spring '16 pledge class of the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter at SJU, I've found so much more than anything I could have ever imagined. From the moment I walked in the door on the first day of recruitment, I knew AGD was the place for me. When I received a bid, I was so excited get the chance to be a part of something so wonderful.

In the short amount of time that I've been pledged to AGD, I've found so many incredible things that I never expected to find. I found friends that I know would do anything for me if I needed it. I found genuine people that made me feel at home right away. I found sisters.

Alpha Gamma Delta has taught me the value of so many things; my health, my friendships, my family, school, service, and much more. Alpha Gamma Delta has taught me to live with purpose.

The girls in my pledge class and I all feel so blessed to be a part of something so great, and want to share how much we love AGD. Through anything and everything, the nuthouse is our home.

"When I came to SJU the summer before my senior year in high school, I immediately felt at home. I knew I belonged here. I got the same feeling when I walked into the AGD room the first night of recruitment." - Tori Ennis '19

"I love AGD because I have become (and am still becoming) great friends with so many people who used to only be familiar faces" - Sammy Kominiarek

"One of the reasons why I love AGD stems from the fact that I know I'll always have a constant support system and have sisters that will always have my back no matter what." - Bianca Luscher '18

"I love AGD because it felt like home right from the beginning. Not only are the sisters kind and outgoing, but they are very intelligent and helpful as well. I knew this was a sisterhood I wanted to be in, and I can't wait to see where it takes us." - Olivia Laubenstine '19

"I love AGD because within it you'll probably find the most well-rounded girls on campus. They're smart, SO sweet, fun-loving, and made us feel at home right away." - Stephanie Saggiomo '18

"AGD helped me find the best squirrel friends, and helped me create a stronger bond with my sister (who's also in AGD)" - Casey Stencil

"I have barely been a part of AGD for a month and I already know I have made friends that will be a part of my life forever." - Evelyn Russo '19

"I love AGD because I believe they're the definition of sisterhood. I have not talked to one girl that had anything negative to say about anyone in the sorority, or anyone else. Everyone always has each other's backs and that really stood out to me. We're also such a diverse bunch, and we know how to balance academics and social life. All of this and so much more makes me love Alpha Gamma Delta. - Ari Flynn '19

"I love AGD because it's given me the best home away from home I could ever ask for! The nuthouse is the best house!!" - Christie Berden

"AGD has inspired me to go above and beyond what's expected" - Laura Gibson

Even though we've only been here for a little and we're still babies, we love everything that AGD stands for. We're so excited for everything that's in store for us, and we know that Alpha Gamma Delta is going to give us more than we ever could have hoped for. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I'd like to end with a quote that I think accurately sums up my experience as a squirrel so far: "Someday we will find what we're looking for. Or maybe we won't. Maybe we'll find something much greater than that."

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
