Baby, I'm Back

Now you have to deal with me again

Well, my friends, it has been a while. I haven't posted anything since winter break started and life has been crazy. There's been death, pneumonia, bronchitis, floors and bathrooms being torn up in my house, I'm pretty sure there was a bear at one point, and a plethora of other things, but that's in the past now. It is time to move on toward the future.

Since it has been so long I figure this article will be about a myriad of things that have thoughts about since we last spoke.

1. This week we got 2 different seasons in 2 days

For anyone on the east coast you know that mother nature just went through her biggest mood swing ever (probably menopause) and it messed with all of us. The dudes playing can-jam and getting hammered on Wednesday stated on Thursday that the snow was a "total bummer". All the girls that thought 57 degrees meant shorts and a tank-top "couldn't even" when they saw the snow on Thursday morning, ultimately the sign that it is still in fact winter. I took the snow day to do a copious amount of homework, watched Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse (which was a quality cinematic adventure), and took a big nap, overall a successful day. It was nice to have the first snow day of the year, even though I don't have class on Thursday's, but anyway it was lit.

2. There is a good chance I will drown in school-work this semester

Holy canoli I've got a lot of stuff to do. I'm only taking 12 credits this semester, but it feels more like 18. Every other day I have about 75 pages of reading, a quiz, a paper, a blog post due, and it is not easy. I was taught to swim by my mother when I was about 2 years old (that's right I learned to swim earlier than you), but I don't think that 19 years of knowing how to swim will save me from drowning this semester. But don't worry, I'll never let go, Jack.

3. Valentine's Day is stupid

Now before you have a heart-attack, hear me out. I think that Valentine's Dayy is stupid for several reasons. One reason is that it's a holiday made up by Hallmark so that they could sell more stuff. Another reason is that you shouldn't need a day on the calendar to show your loved ones how much you care for them. Just because it's February 14th doesn't mean it's the only day you should bring your girlfriend flowers, bromigo. Love your significant other the same way everyday, don't wait for the calendar to tell you to.

4. Firefly 2017

I've never been to a music festival in my life (and it makes me sad), but I think this summer all of that will change. Firefly Music Festival is going to be 100% crazy this year and I wanna go really bad. I recommend all of you check the lineup because there is bound to be someone you know on that list. It's a great chance to spend some quality time with your friends camping out, having fun, and enjoying great music.

Well I hope you all have enjoyed this article (if you didn't your loss). It was all over the place, but I promise they will get better again soon. But until then I hope you all have a good day, I'm always here if anyone needs someone to talk to.

Yours Truly,

Ryan Jordan

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
