Now, I know that I am not the only one who has this same exact problem. I know that there are many people who look way younger than they actually are. I have been dealing with this since I was a young kid. I know that I will be glad to look younger than I am when I get older... but right now it is not ideal. So, here are the most common comments and problems that people with "Baby Faces" are tired of hearing.
1. "Honey, I can't give you a sample without your parent present"
This was a consistent occurrence when I was in my early teens because I still looked like I was 10 years old. Yet in reality, I was 14 years old and the worker giving out the samples could give me the sample because I don't need my mom to be there.
2. "Can I see your I.D." when seeing an R rated movie
This one still happens today, even though I will be 21 in a few short months. Yes, you can see my I.D. but I am over 18 and it is more than legal for me to see this movie.
3. Talking to boys and they think you're still in high school but you're actually older than them...
This has happened since I entered college life, and still happens today. First off, no I am not a freshman and second I am two years older than you. I just look very, very young for my age...but I am 20 years old thank you.
4. "Oh, you must be a freshman"
Ummm no, I am junior but good try. I get this all the time, from other students and a lot during parents weekend. I know I may look like a freshman but I am actually a junior and will be graduating in three short semesters.
5. Going to the doctor's alone and they still ask where your parent or guardian is
Now I have been going to the doctor's alone since I was 18 years old, and I still get this one. I know I look young but I can sign that wavier myself thank you.
At the end of the day I am happy that I will look young when everyone looks old, but at the same time, I want to be taken seriously even though I look like I am 16 going on 17.
