Ayesha Curry: "Falling From Grace"

Everyone has a right to an opinion whether you agree or disagree

Why should one be condemned for speaking their mind? Why should one be looked down upon because they have an opinion? Ayesha Curry has been in the news a lot since Thursday’s NBA Finals Game 6 because she tweeted her opinion after being disappointed by the calls against her husband's basketball team, the Golden State Warriors. She let the world know that she felt that the NBA was rigged for view and ratings after her husband fouled out and was ejected from the game, which was a first for Stephen Curry.

She may have gotten it totally wrong, the NBA may not be rigged for views and ratings—but it is her opinion. It is how she feels. The refs have been so inconsistent throughout the whole playoffs. Therefore, she has a right to believe the refs were cheating her husband out of the Warriors second straight championship. How convenient for the refs to finally start calling fouls that in the past they were letting go when the Warriors could have possibly sealed the deal. All feelings are valid and the world should not be condemning her for saying how she felt. As a human being, she is allowed to speak her mind no matter who her husband is (Chrissy Teigen is known for her clap backs, and the everyone still loves her—what is the difference?).

This is not the first time that Ayesha has shared her opinion on social media, but because she is going against a huge organization like the NBA, people are telling her to be quiet and just sit back and just watch the game. Ayesha is her own person, and doesn’t feel the need to hide her feelings because she is scared of the backlash that she will receive because her husband is in the public eye (side note: Stephen agreed that she had a right to voice her own opinion and joked about turning off the WIFI after all the hype behind Ayesha’s tweet). There have been many commentators saying she should be fined, comparing her to other NBA wives and straight up bashing her character, but Ayesha Curry is Ayesha Curry and not another man's wife, so she shouldn’t be compared to another’s wife. And to fine her would be equivalent to fining any other NBA fan for saying the refs suck and cost their beloved team the game. People just need to get over it. Ayesha is clearly not worried about it and she is probably happily cooking away in her kitchen awaiting Game 7 in Oakland. It's in the past and everyone is entitled to have their own opinion.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
