Axl Heck may be the most iconic character on ABC's "The Middle." He always has something funny and sarcastic to say in every situation. A few of these phrases accurately describe feelings that a lot of college students have. Here are 7 Axl Heck Quotes that accurately describe what it feels like to be in college.

1. "I had the lowest of expectations, and I'm still disappointed."

We’ve all had these experiences. Maybe it’s a class you signed up for that you thought would be really great, but in reality it’s just disappointing. Maybe you bombed a test, and then you did worse then you thought. It’s not often things seek lower than your expectations, but it does happen, and it happens in college more often than anywhere else.

2. “I'm not a kid anymore, I need to get a job!”

Even if you had a job in high school, it’s a whole different story in college. When you’re trying to balance all of the credit hours you’re taking, clubs, and a social life, it doesn’t always seem like there’s time. But with all of that going on, you’ll go broke fast. Food doesn’t seem expensive at the time when you’re going out, but all of those outings add up fast. A job is a must.

3. “Stop it. I was at school all day. Brain off.”

School is absolutely exhausting. I don’t care how many A.P. classes you took in high school, college is so different and so much harder. I don’t know how I used to wake up at 6 a.m. everyday, because now I struggle to roll out of bed and make it to my 8 a.m. I also don’t know how I made it through a seven hour school day, because even on days where I only have two fifty minute classes, I feel drained. No matter how easy or hard your day is, the best feeling is when it's over, and you can kick back with your favorite snack and relax.

4. “My first instinct is to always eat things.”

Food is life. In college, the one thing people commonly bond over is food. People meet up with friends to eat in the cafeteria, or they go out every weekend to get some off campus food. Or even grocery shopping (because dining hall food is gross). Food is a must in college.

5. “I’m too depressed to get up.”

Relatable. After a long week full of tests, quizzes, projects, and assignments, some of which you probably didn’t do that good on, it can be hard to find motivation to do anything. Sometimes you just wanna lie down, ignore everyone, and take a very long nap.

6. “Last week I slept for two whole days. Nobody woke me up.”

I’ve never seen more people nap then I have while at college. For some people, napping is a daily occurrence and they have to fit it into their schedule. Naps get you through when you pull and all nighter, or when you just want to forget all of the stressful things you have to do.

7. “May I please be excused to go step in front of a moving train?”

For real. Some weeks at college have me so stressed I just don’t know how to function. Sometimes it feels like you’ll never tackle all of the work you have sitting in front of you. But you will. Eventually. I won’t happen overnight, but it’ll happen.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
