The caf at Gustavus can be very hectic at times, it also can be dead silent, no matter what in both of those settings awkward moments can occur.

1. The dreaded caf cup drop

It doesn't matter how many people are in the caf, when you drop that cup, all eyes are on you. Now here is a little tip, if you drop it in the open, you're screwed, but if you drop it when you're in the conveyer belt area, you wait until someone else walks out so people think it was them who dropped it.

2. The water station

Not sure why this is so awkward, but when you and another person are filling up water at the same time, there is just an awkward tension between the two of you. It's not a race to see who fills theirs up first, but it feels like it is.

3. The you go this way I go the same way predicament

When the caf is crowded this is something you will experience at least once a day. You walk into someone, you go to one side, they go the same way, then you go the other way and they follow. Then comes the super awkward stand still moment where both of you don't want to move so you just look at each other and laugh, then go your separate ways.

4. I forgot my ID

This isn't that awkward when nobody is in the caf, but when it's crowded and the lady has to write down all your information and now everyone in line is pissed because you forgot the one thing you needed to pay for your meal.

5. The confusion if you're in line or not

Sometimes the line can get so long that people budge you without even knowing, so you have the choice to call them out ask them to go to the back of the line, or just let it be and have one more person to wait for your food. I have never called out anyone just to get that point across.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
