It seems really unfair, doesn’t it? How us college kids go and live new lives for 9 months out of the year with our new friends and then all of a sudden are expected to go back to our old lives for 3 months? Here’s a list of 12 things that us college kids find ourselves doing in the absence of the people we just spent a big portion of our year with.
1. Direct messaging each other relatable tweets about things you used to experience together during the school year.
2. Making references to your home friends and have your college friends have no idea what you are talking about.
3. Using facetime/Houseparty because you miss in-person conversations more than anything.
4. Feeling like your life is a never-ending reference to the Spongebob episode where Spongebob asks “what do you normally do when I’m gone?” and Patrick responds “wait for you to get back.”
5. Look through your camera roll just to remember that you used to have a life.
6. Going to talk to your roommate before you fall asleep just to realize that you no longer have one.
7. Staying in bed all day because you have no one across the hall to get up and go see if they are awake yet.
8. Eating dinner alone because you no longer have someone to skip breakfast and lunch with you.
9. Skipping the usual gym routine because you have no one there to motivate you and the people at your local gym are all too familiar.
10. Looking out the window expecting to see people and buildings that are not there.
11. Staying inside because there’s no longer a reason to walk across campus to see your friends.
12. And finally, wondering how you ever lived your life at home before without your college friends.
