With the premiere of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" just around the bend, I thought everyone needed a (more than) healthy dose of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, with a dash of Luke to spice up their day.

Now, if you are like me, you relate to the Gilmore girls more than pretty much any sitcom character you've ever watched. I aspire to be as sarcastic as Lorelai, as studious as Rory, and as regal as Emily.

That's how I start my mornings, anyway. Like Lorelai, I drink more coffee than I probably should.

Well, I think she stated it perfectly.

And we all know who supplied Lorelai with her coffee addiction...

I don't know about you, but I grew up in a small town, so the Stars Hollow life was pretty relatable. Everyone knows everyone, the small corner store closes earlier than they really should (I mean, we all want those late night cookies, right?). My town didn't have a diner, though. Or a corner store. So, maybe not that alike?

Rory in college was all of us, to be honest. I mean, how we want to be at least. Though this little gem right here pretty much sums up college life:

And, I mean, we all remember Chad Michael Murray as Tristan Dugray, right? And Jared Padalecki as Dean Forester (shoutout to my Supernatural fans that understand the irony in that now). But my favorite Rory-love-interest was Matt Czuchry as Logan Huntzberger. Who dropped this little nugget of wisdom on us:

But Logan also treated Rory the best, I believe. They were well-matched. He loved Rory for being herself, and he didn't try to change her. Yeah, they had their ups and downs, but no couple is perfect. Did anyone else cry when Rory turned down his marriage proposal?

I cried like a baby.

Well, that should get you through to the resurgence of Gilmore Girls. I smell a new era in the air. Oh, maybe it's just coffee...

And if that doesn't satisfy your Gilmore Girls addiction, they do have it on Netflix, and different channels on DirecTV show it constantly.

So, curl up with your fuzzy socks on, a cup of hot coffee in hand, and eagerly await the dawn of a new Gilmore Girls.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
