Avoiding Midterms: Netflix Edition
huffingtonpost

It's officially the middle of the semester, which means we're being bombarded by dreaded midterms/projects/papers. Lucky for us, Netflix seemed to know we would need a pick-me-up, and just added several new TV shows and movies. I took it upon myself to sort through it all and figure out which ones are worth going into hibernation for—I'm basically a saint, I know. From an array action show season additions to comedies, there's definitely something for you here.

1. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

This is a lighthearted rom-com, starring two of Hollywood's best in this type of movie. Personally, this is one of my favorites. It'll make you giggle and provide a sweet relief from your daunting calculus textbook.

2. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Netflix can’t seem to make up their mind as to whether or not they want to keep this film streaming, but for now it's up—take this chance to get some laughs out of this classic before it disappears again!

3. Dazed and Confused

This coming-of-age, retro movie stars an acclaimed cast. Plus, if one of your classes is anything involving health, you can justify this one since it follows teenagers and the effects of drugs on them. Win-win, right?

4. The Flash (Season 2)

Season 2 of this show is up, to the relief of my fellow superhero-loving watchers. Even if you've never seen this show, I would completely recommend you watch it—you only have 2 seasons to catch up on, and it's the perfect mix of action and humor. Also Grant Gustin is just adorable.

5. The Titanic

This is another one that goes on and off from Netflix, so take advantage now even if you've seen this older film countless times with your mom. Never underestimate the power of a good ol' Leo tear-jerker, espically during a stressful week.

6. DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Season 1)

This is a good month in Netflix world for my fellow geeks! This newer spin-off of The Flash and Arrow is a must-see for DC fans.

7. Breakfast at Tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn (all the heart eyes). That should be all the convincing you need.

Go forth and enjoy all that Netflix has provided!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
