The time between Halloween and the winter holidays is sort of a strange one. There's a weird gap that feels like it shouldn't be there, and generally it's only purpose is switching decorations.
But as someone who truly enjoys fall, I have tried my best to compile a list of things that will help you get the full fall experience. It's a great season, but it's often ignored due to the fact that winter is so much closer. So before you try to build a snowman, play in the leaves for a minute.
Get into the fall themes and colors. This is super easy, but try to look at the fall time as a separate holiday; where you can just enjoy rainy weather and a very dark colored, nature-centered aesthetic. This could be something as simple as changing your wallpaper on your phone, or even setting up some simple fall decorations in your room or house.
Embrace the coziness. Wearing pajamas isn't always allowed, but it's super tempting. Enjoy a comfy outfit that looks great, but feels like pajamas, to keep up your 'best dressed' rep. Over-sized sweaters pair super well with a skater skirt, black tights, and boots, and it looks great for a number of dress code situations. And with an outfit that is weather friendly and trendy, all you need is a messy bun, giving you plenty of time to sleep in.
Surround yourself with a comfortable, warm colored atmosphere. I love having a pile of pillows and tons of blankets on my bed during fall. I stay warm, and ultimately I feel more comfortable. Come home after class or work at one point during the week and ignore the outside world for a little bit. Light some candles, turn on a cozy playlist, read your favorite book, or just take a nap.
Don't touch the peppermint or eggnog flavored things. Not yet. I'm no avid PSL enthusiast or anything, but I do like to enjoy the flavors of the fall season. Hit up some hot tea if you want to do the minimal side. You can't really drink it in July.
Spend your time enjoying what the cold weather brings. Remember to take the year as it goes, and not to rush through the seasons. Enjoy the holidays one at a time this year, and avoid Christmas in November!
