Autumn is a Time Where being Basic Shouldn't be a Crime

Everyone hates on those who are called basic during the upcoming holidays, but in reality we are all a little basic when it comes to Fall.

Autumn is literally right around the bend and let me tell you I am pumped! I am not super huge on the whole pumpkin lattes or posing in pumpkin patches with my BFFs, but fall has to be my favorite season. Sine it's coming soon I thought what better way to get others excited than to write an article for which basics and others would relate. So let's get right to it!

For those like myself who were born and raised in the sunshine state fall is the one time it gets a teensy bit chilly in our constant summer. Also as that girl who was raised with palm trees instead of these beauties above, when we go up to the northeast in the autumn months it is a treat to say the least. I mean look at the beauty of nature at its finest with the brilliant colors of orange, red, yellow and brown. I would give anything to wake up to that in the fall. Of course for those from out of state many will say "but, but, but, have you ever had to rake all of those leaves?! It is such a pain!" and as I stated before we have palm trees so most of the time the palm fronds might fall and yes we carry it to the curb for disposal which is kinda the same thing.

Fall was known in history as the gathering of summer's harvest and of course in the USA led to thanksgiving. Pumpkins are one of those staples and as I said before I am not huge on pumpkin lattes, but other pumpkin goods can be just so delightful! Something about Florida which puts a bummer on pumpkins is the fact of once you carve a pumpkin say at the beginning of October by the time Halloween comes around it is gross and moldy. Of course we still do pumpkin carvings we just can't have them out all season like many people can. One thing that is always something I look forward to is roasting the seeds from the carved Jack O'Lanterns. Roasted pumpkin seeds are the bomb and if you haven't had them before I highly suggest it in lieu of having a pumpkin spiced latte.

Movies are a central part of all major holidays and as someone who loves movies I look forward to all the seasonal movies. I mean who doesn't love a good scare or even a good Disney Channel movie? It seems that Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown are now considered overrated which is ridiculous, but who am I to judge right? Along with the movies there are the holiday events such as Halloween Horror Nights and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Both are events at the amusement parks in Florida and California that take place through September, October and November that celebrate the greatness of the season. Halloween Horror Nights is always a huge blast and Mickey's is great for those who don't like to be scared half to death. So if you can afford it definitely check those out and if not that's okay because Netflix is offering some great movies for All Hallows Eve.

Whether you love the holiday and go all out or just enjoy some aspects of the upcoming season just make sure to be safe and be grateful for everything you have in life today. Fall isn't just about spooks and pumpkins it is about loving and thanking for the life you have lived so far!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
