Why Being Single At 22 Is OK
dailymail.co.uk

In a world that constantly tells us two is better than one, sometimes all the single ladies (and men) need a little reassurance that there's nothing wrong with them just because they have yet to find "the one." I've been there (or rather I am there). It seems like all of your friends are pairing up and planning their lives together while you make daily "me-time" plans. Maybe it seems lonely, or you think that all of your alone time sounds like you have a sad life, but it's actually really great! Being in a healthy and serious relationship at a young twenty something is pretty fantastic (or at least I hear because what would I know), but being in a relationship with you, yourself, and....you is also pretty seriously cool! Let me explain myself.

You should be happy, maybe even excited, about the single season in your life; it's not just a time of being lonely and waiting for your prince charming or your beautiful princess. It's a season full of learning and growth. Learning from your friends who are in relationships, learning about yourself, what you like, what you don't like, the things you need in a significant other, and the love language you use. While you're learning all these new things, you're also growing into a better version of yourself. Basically, you're doing a lot of the dirty work right now to make your future relationship better and maybe even a little easier because you've already got some of your life figured out on your own time. When you look at it that way, singleness becomes so much more valuable than most people think it is.

Trust me I get it, even when you see the value in being single some days (or whole weeks) it's hard not to think that something has got to be wrong with you. Why else would you still be single? Alone automatically equates to some serious issue you have to fix, right? Wrong! Just because you are single even when you feel you shouldn't be doesn't mean you need to lose weight, change your hair, get a nicer car, or buy a whole new wardrobe. Being single does NOT mean that something is wrong with you just like being in a relationship doesn't mean your life is perfect.

Change your entire perspective on singleness. Think of all the freedom, the adventure, and the endless possibilities your life could have before you settle down with someone. It's OK to dream about your future with the love of your life, I definitely do, just don't get so caught up in dreaming that you forget to enjoy where you are in life right now. Most importantly, don't let your heart become hardened to love. Stop saying things like "forever alone" and "perpetually single." I get it, we all say stuff like that in the "haha I'm only kidding" way, but when it becomes a part of our daily attitude it can prevent us from accepting love at all.

Just because you're single now doesn't mean you will be in this season of life forever, so don't give up on romance just yet. In fact, don't ever give up on romance because it's a beautiful thing! Be satisfied with whatever stage of life you're in and learn from it. And don't ever forget, it's OK to be single!

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
