Aunts Are the Best Gift The World Can Give You

You’ve been my best friend, a role model, an extra mother figure and one of my biggest supporters. There are so many reasons why you one of my favorite humans who live in this beautiful world. You are a blessing I didn’t get to choose but I am more than grateful for it everyday. You’ve seen me grow up and it’s not an understatement to say that I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for your big heart and tough love at times. So I want to say thank you and list a few reasons why it’s amazing to have an Aunt like you in my life.

You’re the best friend I’ve ever had.

I can drink wine with you, go shopping and talk about boys with you and it’s better than days I am with my friends. Lets be honest, you probably have more embarrassing stories of me than most of my friends too. Every story I tell you either laugh along with me or you give me the best and most honest advice. No matter what the story is there is never a moment where judgment is passed.

You’re my biggest role model.

You kick ass at everything you do. You’ve shown me what hard work is and where it can get you. We have similar back-stories and you’ve shown me a past cannot define you. Everyday you get up get ready go to work and come home to be the best mother and wife you can be. The tough times that come along you just take one step at a time with grace no matter how tough it can be.

You’re my added mother figure.

The way I see it is there is always your mother who no one can replace but there isn’t a problem with someone having more than one person who is an added “mother figure” in your life. You’re the added one for me. You’re someone I tell my dreams to, my worries, my achievements and my mistakes or problems to. Just like my actual mother you’re always there to be happy and excited for me, to give advice and to help me find solutions.

You’re the best cheerleader.

You’ve seen my accomplishments and my failures but every step of the way you’ve always cheered me on being one of my biggest supporters. From telling me I can do anything in life and helping accomplish my goals to helping me pick myself up during hard times.

It’s honestly heartbreaking to think there are people in the world that might not have an aunt like you in their life. Like I said, I am lucky because I didn’t get to choose you and yet here you are in my life. I could thank you forever for everything you don’t for me and talk to for hours about how grateful I am for every little thing you’ve be able to do for me but something tells me that you already know. Just incase I haven't said it recently, thank you and I love you.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
