Lake Martin In Alabama

Above all, nothing beats a lake weekend. If you haven't been blessed with the convenience of living near a lake while growing up, you've seriously been deprived. It is without a doubt the most peaceful you will ever feel. Not to mention, the view never fails to be breathtaking. The sky meeting the water every day at sunset makes this one irresistible spot to visit.

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga brings fun and adventure! Being the 4th largest city in Tennessee, there are lots of things to do. There's the aquarium, an exciting downtown, and even hiking. It's hard for someone not to find something to do in this lovely city in good ole' Tennessee.

Austin, Texas

Ahh Texas. Texas is the biggest state and some like to call it its own country. Not only is Austin the state capital, but this is a place to find wide-ranging adventures. It may even be a good place for a date! (Shout out to all the summer flings about to sprout up.) Austin, Texas offers parks and lakes with tons of outdoorsy things to do! The perfect summer adventure awaits!

Charleston, South Carolina

If you want a beautiful historical city, boy oh boy is this your place to road trip to. With horse-drawn carriages to a water-front park, Charleston screams summer fun.

Nashville, Tennessee

Where are all my music lovers out there? This is your place. There's entertainment 24/7, and there's never a dull moment in Nashville. You can chill in a coffee shop, go downtown with friends, or see whatever famous singer is performing that night! This is a road trip that you'll definitely want to take with your besties.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Also known as NOLA, this is one happenin' place. If you like to go out, by all means head to New Orleans. When I say never a dull moment, I literally mean never a dull moment. It's near the water and down right beautiful. This city brings color and life to all who come to it, and you're sure to leave with a few good stories!

Las Vegas, Nevada

The city that never sleeps! There is non-stop excitement in every direction you turn, here in this big city. With extravagant hotels, and a constant, high-energy vibe, you're sure to have a summer weekend for the books!

San Francisco, California

You also may know this city to be the one with "the big red bridge", but man is it gorgeous. There's the 'big city feel' but also that touristy homey feeling, too. Surrounded by the ocean, and its beautiful hills, there is bound to be a spot in San Francisco that you'll love. Without a doubt, I'd say that this is one of the top summer road trip destinations.

Portland, Maine

Standing out as one of the more quirky places on the list, Portland offers a different feel than the typical summer vacation. There's downtown shops and parks, but it also offers a unique city feel in a strange hipster way. If you're looking for quiet and calm with a spark of eccentric flavor, why not give Portland, Maine a try?

Eufaula, Alabama

If you're looking for a little piece and quiet, with some southern comfort, this is just the spot. It's cozy (perfect for a calm weekend) and it has that old historic charm. With its big beautiful houses in the downtown area, I think it'd be hard not to drive with your car windows down, for a breezy, beautiful weekend.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
