1. The Wave (Marble Canyon, AZ)

The Wave is a sandstone formation located near the northern Arizona border of Utah. The formation is situated on the slopes of Coyote Buttes. The formation is valued among hikers and photographers for its colorful, warm gold tones that flow in a rippled fashion. Due to the fragile nature of the formation, hiking permits are required and only 20 people are allowed into each permit area per day. The exclusivity of this wondrous, natural site is one in which you do not want to miss out on.

2. Antelope Canyon (Page, AZ)

The beauty of Antelope Canyon does not lose its beauty with age. The canyon is a sacred, cherished site for the Navajo and equally appreciated and admired by people all over the world. The canyons path requires no climbing and is flat making for a leisurely stroll through a maze of red rock with liner design. Sun rays seep from the canyons gaps above, casting whimsical shadows of shimmering light onto the canyon walls. There are two locations of this sight, Upper Antelope Canyon (The Crack), and Lower Antelope Canyon (The Corkscrew). The sites are available through guided tour only.

3. Horseshoe Bend (Page, AZ)

Overlooking one of the most spectacular views of the Colorado river, this breathtaking scenic view urges for a side trip from the Grand Canyon. Observing the scene from a height of 1000 feet, it as if one is viewing the unfathomable beauty from the perspective of a bird soaring in the sky. Making for a memorable and unforgettable experience, Horseshoe Bend is beauty in which one can only try to preserve with a picture or articulate into words. The hike roundtrip is a short 1.5 miles and the resulting scenic view is surely rewarding.

4. Lockett Meadow (Flagstaff, AZ)

Replicating the eccentric scenery of folklore Little Red Riding Hood, Lockett Meadow is the X that marks the spot to the treasure of Coconino National Forest. As you advance into the thick, dense forest, one is engulfed by a colorful sea of amber and emerald gold. As the towering trees sway in the wind, the leaves of the aspen trees dance from above, delicately shedding their leaves to paint the forest floor below. A moderate 5.8-mile hike, the last mile of this path is a bit challenging as you near the eastern slope of the San Francisco Peaks. While the best time to go is in the fall season when the trees begin to change color, the forest in the spring is equally serene and the trees are vibrantly green. Camping is also available making this site a true outdoor playground.

5. Oak Creek Canyon (Sedona, AZ)

Recognized as being one of the top five most scenic drives in America, Oak Creek Canyon is a breathtaking red rock landscape that extends 4,500 feet from Sedona to the top of Mogollon Rim. The scenic drive is about 14 miles long and can and each vantage point provides for an enchanting vision of the looming, auburn canyons that are lush with oaks trees and pine evergreens. While the road of this scenic drive is a bit sharp, as you reach near its end there are plenty of gorgeous and crystal clear creeks along the roads side. Finding a safe outlet to pullover, one can explore the hidden creeks and waterways of the canyon. Sites include Slide Rock, one of the main tourist attractions of the canyon.

6. The Amitabha Stupa & Peace Park (Sedona, AZ)

Cherished and known for its red rock scenery, Sedona is more than just a pretty face, possessing powers for spiritual healing. 7. Verde Hot Springs (Campe Verde, AZ).

What was once a booming resort, is now just the foundational remains of aftermath from a fire. Thankfully, the main attraction of the resort remains. Positioned on the cliff sides and overlooking the Verde valley are several pools of hot springs, all around 98 degrees, a soothing temperature for relaxation and comfort. Conveniently located, the hike is effortless, taking only 1 mile to reach the hot springs. Camping is not prohibited however, camping sites are located in neighboring areas.

8. Fossil Creek (Camp Verde, AZ)

It is hard to believe as you travel through the barren desert of Camp Verde that at the end of the road is a hidden oasis diverse with luscious green desert landscape, wildlife, and waterfalls. The road to fossil creek is rugged and it is advised that you travel in a car equipped for the conditions. Fossil Creek and its trails offer picnic sites, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and more. Fossil Creek is the perfect place to escape from the traitorous Arizona heat to cool down by the waters edge. Hiking trails are accommodating to beginners and provide challenge for advanced hikers.

9. Havasu Falls (Supai, AZ)

Havasu falls gives new wonder to the desert; a mirage come true in the heart of a desert valley. Havasu falls is among five waterfalls found at the base of the Grand Canyon, all of which are gorgeous and breathtaking. Havasu falls plunges from a height of 80 feet, filling its base below with quenching turquoise water. The swimming hole is a quaint place to bask in the surrounding natural beauty. This excursion is for hikers who can enjoy a 10-mile hike, and endure a rough and rugged trainee. Reservations for this hiking and camping excursion must be made.
