(Beauty's only skin deep, yeah, yeah, yeah.)
(Beauty's only skin deep, oh yeah.)
It doesn't matter how well you "beat your face", contour your nose, or bake your concealer.
Makeup is used for covering up unwanted scratches, bruises, and "imperfections." But in all actually, is the imperfection really whats skin deep?
Growing up, I definitely would not have considered myself the most attractive kid in the bunch. I was not concerned about my physical appearance until looking around and noticing I was being looked at funny because my choice of clothing wasn't preferable to others. Of course I wore the simple eyeliner and mascara, but I didn't get into the foundations and concealers until my senior year of high school.
PROM. One of the best days of my life. But why? Glad you asked.
1. I genuinely felt like a princess.
2. My face was beat like never before.
3. My friends didn't argue (which seemed to be an everyday thing back then).
My mother's Mary Kay consultant agreed to come over and slay my makeup for prom, so I definitely did not hesitate to pay attention to every little detail. After she finished, I could not stop looking at what she had done. Ever since then, I made an effort to try to look like those around me. It took a few years to really understand that my outer appearance had absolutely nothing to do with beauty.
Moving forward to today, some people have the tendency to forget what people's character reveals under pounds of cake on their face. Unfortunately, our generation doesn't look past how contoured your nose is, and really get to know someone and their heart. The definition of beauty is thequalitypresentinathingorpersonthatgivesintensepleasureordeepsatisfaction tothemind. I feel as though that quality should not have limitations on whether it is external or not. Internal qualities will allow everything else to follow.
BUT WAIT!
There is nothing wrong with making sure you look presentable! Who doesn't? Makeup is a great confidence booster, especially when you know you look good. There are days I look like I'm walking out of MAC. Makeup has become a big part of my life for many reasons. I believe it's another form of art, and it helps create different looks and styles on anyone! Just remember to let your internal beauty radiate, and everything else will look even better afterwards.
