Dear my fellow Tall Girls,
You guys know what it’s like. The super long legs, being kind of lanky and uncoordinated, and being a mega giant in 4 inch heels. None of your friends are really close to your height, maybe one or 2, my best friend is under 5 feet and my prom date was only 5’7. Well I just want to let you guys know that you’re not alone and I feel your pain, girl.
We were blessed and cursed in all honesty. The dresses, I know you hate finding a super cute dress and it comes in your size, then you try it on and it looks like a shirt. It kills me every time and don’t even get me started on online shopping. The jeans, if they don’t have tall at the end don’t even send it my way, because it’s a totally waste. The shoes, I can never shoe shop anywhere, Forever21 and Wet Seal only go to a size 10 and I don’t have time to squeeze into those shoes just to make it fit. And any sneakers or anything like that has to be in the boys or men sizes, so basically nothing cute for us. It’s such a shame.
Boys, over half of the guys we meet are exactly eye level or shorter than us. That's even if they approach us, because some of those guys are intimidated by the fact that we're taller than them. What a struggle but, it’s okay. If you really like someone then you shouldn’t care about their height. If you do then that’s okay too, there nothing with wanting to look up at someone rather than down. Change is definitely good.
Growing up a tall girl, wasn’t easy either. Everyone kind of kept away from you because of your height, so making friends may not have been the easiest. So like myself, it may have taken awhile for you to really accept tallness and embrace it.
But not everything is bad about tall for a girl, there are a countless number of wonderful things about it. You’re fast walker, so being late never really concerns you. We can always ride shotgun. We can reach things on the top shelf in cabinets and grocery stores. Our longs legs make us look more appealing and you can ride all the rides at amusement parks. We look absolutely fabulous in maxi dresses and jumpsuits. We’re always seen and it’s never a problem at concerts and meetings. Hell, there are scholarships for being a tall girl. Sometimes your height be a great icebreaker. The list goes on and on of all the great things that you kick major ass at. So if you’re feeling insecure about you’re height, just remember that you’re not alone. So lean on your fellow tall girl. We got your back.
Sincerely Yours,
Haley, a fellow Tall Girl
