I'm totally with you. I long for the days where we waited in anticipation for the next movie to come out. Reading the books in preparation, waiting on lines, that indescribable feeling when you heard the music and saw the WB logo or seeing one of your favorite characters on the big screen, even holding in your pee because you absolutely could not miss the last ten minutes of the movie even though you totally already knew what was going to happen, and then begging your family or friends to go see it at least another time. It's been years since we got to see new adventures in the amazing journey of the famous trio. I mean sure, the Wizarding World theme parks are beyond incredible, and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them beautifully brought us back into the world, but it's just not the same. So, we settle for rereading the books, rewatching the movies, and probably running multiple different "Harry Potter" themed Tumblr or twitter accounts, but it's just not enough.
I never thought I'd get to have that feeling of a new movie again. Until March 31st. That Friday night, I got to experience the very first "Harry Potter" movie in a whole new way, and it gave the same feeling as watching a new movie. Radio City Music Hall in New York City is doing this Harry Potter Movie Concert Series. March 31st and April 1st they showed "Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone" on a huge screen with a fully live orchestra playing every note of the entire score of the movie originally written by John Williams. The audience was totally interactive, cheering and booing, laughing and screaming. And the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra? Phenomenal. The overall experience was just amazing, and it honestly gave me that giddy and excited feeling we all had when we watched one of the movies for the very first time.
The "Harry Potter" Movie Concert Series is going to have this exact setup, but with each of the other 7 films, and if you get the chance, all you Harry Potter fans (young and old) have to check it out the next time.
