I lived in New York, the original United States epicenter for COVID-19. I was being smart and following all CDC guidelines and regulations. I stayed in my home for months, with the exception of going to the supermarket. Coming back to school, I knew how to stay safe and avoid getting the virus, but a lot of others did not. Within the first week of classes, I contracted COVID-19.
For a week now, I had a low-grade fever, and noticed I was running out of breath during my at home workouts. I began to realize how tired, and ill I was feeling. I started not being able to get out of bed, or eat. For the past few days, I have been bed ridden due to the overbearing tiredness, and body aches I feel. I have ended up developing all of the common symptoms.
The perks of classes being online is that I am able to stay in my bed and rest during my classes. Although the con is that when you are attending an online class, not every professor thinks there are many excuses to miss class. While I do not want to miss class, I currently cannot preform my best, or fully pay attention because of my symptoms.
I have been struggling to keep up normally with all of my classes, and involvement in my other organizations. I cannot find a way to be comfortable. It is overall a struggle. It is a very frustrating time, and thing to experience. Luckily, FSU has reached out with resources.
I received an email from FSU, letting me know that they will send a letter to all of my professors to let them know of my condition, and provided links to academic resources, as well as health resources. I encourage everyone to wear masks, maintain six feet from others, and follow all CDC guideline, and regulations. The toll COVID-19 has taken on me physically and mentally is terrible, and I fear for those who have it worse.
