Summer comes and goes, so it's important to make the best of it. As college students, we often work many hours and forget to treat ourselves. Before we know it, we're going to be middle-aged adults in the world. So, we need to remind ourselves not to take on too much responsibility during our breaks from school. Sometimes that's hard to do. However, a popular pastime during summer is attending summer concert. Spend a summer night under the stars at an outside venue and enjoy the music. Whether you see your favorite band or your mom's favorite band, concerts make memories. Here are some reasons you should make your own memories at a summer concert:

1. Meet new people

You will be surrounded by strangers who hold the same admiration for the artist you're seeing. In this environment, it is so easy to find people to bond with. You never know, you might even make a few long lasting friends.

2. Anticipation

From the day you purchase your ticket, you will be waiting for the night to come and when it does, the excitement inside of you is hard to explain.

3. Live music

You've been listening to this artist for years and the moment they finally come out on stage is overwhelming. There is nothing like being in the same room as your favorite artists watching them do what they do best and hearing their music raw, live, and so wonderful.

4. Happiness

You are stress-free. You can't stop laughing, singing, or smiling with your friends. It is the best feeling.

5. Picking out an outfit

Concert outfits are the most enjoyable ensembles to put together because anything goes. Your options are limitless and capturing your concert memories on camera is a must. You'll remember your outfit forever, so have fun picking it out!

6. Meeting the artist

Sometimes artists will visit crowds of fans after the concerts. The chance to meet your favorite musician is there waiting for you to take it.

7. Experience

Whether you purchase general admission tickets and camp out for 24 hours to be first in line for front row or buy seats and are heading to the show an hour before it starts, your experience will be unique and absolutely amazing.

8. Interacting with the artist

While on stage between songs, the artist is talking to you. He/ she or they are making the experience even more intimate by telling you how much they appreciate you being there to see them perform. It makes you feel connected.

9. Stories

After a night spent with your friends and favorite artist, you're going to have a million stories. Ones like how your friend started crying (I am that friend) or how you got so close to the stage you were able to look into the musician's eyes. Maybe you are shocked at how expensive water actually was. Whatever your experience was, it makes a great story.

10. Inexpensive

Although there are concert tickets that are ridiculously expensive, it doesn't always have to be. Be strategic. Sometimes if you wait until the day of to buy tickets, you can get them for a really decent price. Another way is to attend a concert at a smaller venue where the artist hasn't gone mainstream yet. The tickets are very reasonably priced. However, the experience is priceless.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
