Why I'm Excited For Passion 2016
News Release Today

The Passion Conference is a gathering for 18-24 year olds that exists for the purpose of making His name great. Hundreds of thousands of college-aged people all gather to worship Jesus together. Passion's goal is to help encourage a generation of young adults to live their lives on earth for what matters most, "the fame of the One who rescues and restores, and the privilege we have to amplify His name in everything we do."

In the past, there have been multiple conferences, all spread out at different times. This year though, Passion is doing something new. January 2-4, 2016, three different conferences will all be happening at the same time. Two will be in Atlanta, George and a third in Houston, Texas. Passion will be connecting all three locations to praise and worship Jesus as one. Their slogan is 3 Locations. 2 Cities. 1 Heartbeat. How awesome is that? I can't even begin to imagine how the Holy Spirit is going to work during these three days, at all three locations.

Leading worship at Passion this year includes Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman, Christy Nockles, Kristian Stanfill, and Brett Younker. Also two special guest bands, Hillsong United and Rend Collective, will be making an appearance as well. We will get to worship our amazing God with thousands of other students from all across the nation. John Piper, Christine Cain and Louie Giglio will be leading the way in between each of the worship sessions. I look forward to hearing what God is going to say through these leaders.

Community Groups are another thing I am looking forward to. I am especially excited for this aspect of Passion because I have never gotten to experience it before. Community Groups is where the big gathering becomes small and personal. They are lead by a pastor or leader, and give you the opportunity to meet other college-aged students from across the country in a smaller, more personal setting. We are called to live in community with other believers so I'm excited to see how these play out.

Three of my best friends and I will be in attendance January 2-4, 2016 in Houston, Texas. If you don't already have plans to attend Passion this year, grab a couple friends and make plans to attend at one of the three locations. Every day college students gather for concerts, festivals, football games, etc., but this is a chance we get to all gather for Jesus. The worship, the speakers and the community will be great, but Jesus will be better. Passion's theme verse is Isaiah 26:8 which reads, "Yes Lord, walking in the way of Your truth we wait eagerly for You, for Your name and renown are the desire of our soul." Isaiah 26:8 really embodies what Passion is all about, encouraging students to walk in the truth for the sake of Him and His name.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
