Attainable resolutions don’t mean that they will necessarily be easy, it just means that with the right amount of drive and effort, you will work toward a positive outcome. As we take a step into the new year, it’s a time to reflect and refresh your lifestyle and making change some things up.

Eating Habits

The holidays are over, therefore it is time to say farewell to the Christmas cookies and holiday treats displayed on your counter. Spring Break is right around the bend and what you eat in private is what you will wear on your island vacay. Creating an attainable “diet” does not mean starve yourself, it just means portion controls and healthy options.

Work Habits

Being productive isn’t one of my strong suits, and I’m sure others can agree as well. The New Year is a great way to kick off a new way of doing your work and getting it done. The feeling of accomplishment is the best thing, whether it’s completed a few days before or a few minutes before it’s due. An even better feeling is getting things done when they are fresh in your mind and ready to be knocked off of your to-do list.

Sleeping Habits

Celebrating New Years by staying up until the early hours of the morning on the first day of the year isn’t the best way to start the new year, but getting into a good sleep cycle is beneficial to your bodies health. An early night to sleep brings an early morning, giving you a good amount of time in a day to be productive. Scheduling classes for the morning and leaving time in between classes to get things done, provides the afternoon for a job or extracurricular activities as a college student.

Exercise Habits

This is always the typical New Years Resolution, and people always take it too far just too get no where. Setting aside just half an hour a day can start to make a difference. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, riding your bike or walking to class, going on walks with friends, all of these can be a spark to making you want to continue the trend of feeling great and looking great.

Technology Habits

It seems everyday there are new discoveries to technology. Our world just keeps becoming more and more reliant on it. When everything starts to become more wrapped up in electronics, put yours down and try to focus on more important things around you, maybe even pick up a new hobby to keep yourself distracted.

Drinking Habits

Water…your new best friend. This is the most attainable step in your daily life to seeing a change. Increasing the amount of water you drink, will help benefit your skin, decrease your hunger, and also fuel your body in the right way. As a college student, I am so quick to choose a fun flavored latte, smoothie, or chocolate milk before I choose to drink water. The more you start to drink water, the more your body will crave it and forget about the other sugar filled drinks.

Kindness Habits

One of my favorite sayings is, “throw kindness around like confetti.” It is always a little reminder that kindness should be in all aspects of our lives, regardless of the situation. Start the New Year out on a kind and positive note and watch it spread from one person to the next. It could be holding a door open for someone or something even as small as a smile.

It doesn't matter what goals or how many you set for yourself, it just depends on the effort and work you want to put in. Don't push yourself too hard, it is about control and achieving whatever you can handle!

Daily Fun Lists

One of the most dreaded places on campus is the library. Nothing awesome ever happens here. Usually, the only reason you're here is because you've procrastinated so long that the library is the only place you'll actually get stuff done. It gives you this feeling of sadness and impending doom. You have no idea how this is going to go or how long you'll be here, but you do know it is about to be the most excruciating experiences yet. But it has to get done, so you drag yourself to the lovely library.

With each new year comes new goals.

Deciding on a goal can be hard, unsure of what to change for this new year. A new goal for myself is to be happier and take care of myself more. I am a very driven person; so driven that I commit to a million and ten things.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.
