Earlier this week, Donald Trump made a controversial tweet about Atlanta regarding representative John Lewis vowing to not attend his inauguration on January 20th, 2017.
Atlanta, home to roughly 448,000 people, the Hollywood of the south. Ranked number 12 on Business Insider's list of America's 12 Best Big Cities To Live In Right Now, Mr. Trump described Atlanta as being in "horrible shape and falling apart." The newly done renovation of the old Sear's Warehouse into a public market proves otherwise.
Atlanta has been rapidly expanding with new jobs, since the movie industry and hip hop industry have been steadily growing due to lack of entertainment taxes in the state. This brings in tons of revenue to both the city and local businesses. Atlanta is the third largest city in America for the film industry. This employes extras, provides additional income for the city for filming costs and brings in business to local shops, restaurants and bars. Have you ever heard of The Walking Dead or Stranger Things? Yeah, you're all welcome
Not only has the film industry been booming, but many corporations have moved their operations to Atlanta because of how close it is to other areas and it has the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. From Coca-Cola to the Home Depot, Atlanta is one of the business capitals of the nation. Having these employers popping up all around the metro area has been reducing unemployment significantly and is causing more people to move to Atlanta for the jobs.
As well as a booming business capitol, Atlanta is known for being a city in a forest. Decorated with dozens of parks and tons of outdoor activities, there is never a dull moment. From walking the beltline, to shooting the hooch, Atlanta is perfect for anyone with a corporate job who also enjoys their time outside.
Mr. John Lewis and Mr. Trump's personal issues have gotten in the way of Trump supporters' views of this city. What is one of the more liberal areas of the south, Atliens are outraged at Mr. Trump's comments regarding their home city. The two have never agreed on political issues and have never supported one another. Mr. Trump took to twitter, as always, and mistakenly bashed the capitol of the south, becoming the final straw for many who call this place home. I, personally, am glad because this means he may never grace my beautiful home with his presence. Please, keep yourself in Washington D.C. or New York, we don't need another Trump tower.
