Sports did so much for me growing up and now as I am becoming an adult its doing even more. It gave me a way to positively vent my anger and feelings into something i loved. The work ethic i learned from playing sports really showed me that the harder you work at things in life the better you will be at them. It also taught me that failure is always an option but giving up and not trying is not.
Failure is an option when you give your best and it doesn't work out. Not everything in life will work out right away so once you fail you start working harder than before to achieve your success. It also taught me about the bonds you can make with people you would have never been friends with unless it was for athletics. Some friendships i made i will hold and cherish for the rest of my life and that is truly a blessing. Some of the best memories in my life have come from playing sports to from having the best basketball game of my life on my senior night, to scoring my first touchdown in 6th grade, or hitting my first home-run in baseball. And most importantly the confidence it instilled in me.
Socially, I was never really the best but sports helped me express who i was and it really helped me gain confidence from the success I had in sports to translate into social situations. I will forever be thankful for what sports has done for me and i am truly blessed that i am continuing my athletic career in college.
