Ohio University's campus is one of the top reasons I chose to become a Bobcat. The aesthetic of the bricks and wooded surroundings caught my attention. As my freshman year of college at OU ended, I knew I was in love with not only the campus, but Athens and Southern Ohio too. I couldn't be more excited to spend the next three years at OU, and here's why:
1. Intimate party scenes
I love a good block party as much as the next girl, but nothing beats small fires with good friends.
2. Locals
When the college students leave for the summer, the people who live in Athens seem to be more comfortable with parading Court Street. The culture of Southern Ohio is something else.
3. Extra exploring time
Athens is home for the next four years. I want to try everything a good Bobcat should, from hiking Hocking Hills to trying all of the Court Street food. No class just means more time to explore and find new things here at home.
4. Hidden treasures
Yesterday, I made it a point to explore as many shops as possible. I decided to just start going in and out of shops, just looking around at local products and neat art. To my surprise, I found a comic book store with a cohort of gamers playing cards
5. Sidewalk sales
I can't help but feeling hipster-esque as I flip through old books in front of Little Professor's or browse OU attire all way down Court Street.
6. Limited wait
There are never long lines to get drunk food, or lunch. Have you ever walked directly up to the the Chipotle counter? I have. It's wonderful.
