I can honestly say that I have two people to thank for everything in my life — my parents. Not only do you believe in me, but you are my mentors. I look to you both for answers, even if you do not know them. When life gets hard and I want to fall, even if I do fall, you are right there to pick me back up. As I got older, I realized that you cannot always help me, that I need to figure things out for myself. I still find myself running to you. I believe that you will always help me no matter what. Well, that is because it is your job as parents to help your children.
When I began to question what I wanted to do with my life, if I wanted to go to college, or even complete it, I knew you would be there for me. After spending hours upon hours looking at universities, technical schools or two year schools, you helped decide where I wanted to go. I stayed close to home for a reason. I now know that I was not ready to leave. I wanted you both nearby and helping me and guiding me through my hardships. I understand that might have hindered my college experience or helped me get ready for the real world. However, that was my decision.
When I did not know what major I wanted to take on, you both gave me clues and paved the way for me to think for myself. I did not declare my major until the end of sophomore year and that was okay. When I came to you and finally told what I wanted to do, my goals in life, you accepted them. I learned how to light a fire under my butt and push myself forward toward greater things in life because of you.
I just wanted to that I love you and I will always love you. Thank you for being the best parents a girl could ever ask for.
