Most of your peers can relate to having stress. This is a normal feeling for any college student. With pressures coming from a million different directions, stress is expected. Because of classes, a job, and clubs, time to relax takes the back seat. It is important to take care of yourself. Relaxation isn’t always easy. Going to a spa is an option that helps cope with stress. This isn’t always possible, especially on a budget. Therefore, try these simple tips to bring the spa to your dorm:
1. Turn your Shower into a Sauna
Turn the heat up in the shower and let it get steamy. A hot shower is always a perfect way to de-stress. As you start to relax, soak a washcloth and press it against your face. While doing this, take deep breaths and completely clear your mind. No thinking allowed.
2. Make a Sugar Scrub
Mix one-fourth cup of sugar and add one tablespoon of olive oil to create a scrub. You can add more sugar or olive oil to make a consistency you desire. While in the shower, apply it to your arms, legs, and hands. It’s an easy exfoliator. You won’t believe the results. Your skin will feel unbelievably refreshed and soft.
3. Warm Lotion
4. Cucumber Eye Mask
All you need is two slices of cucumber. With early classes and late nights, we all know the struggle of puffy eyes and dark circles. A simple eye mask can soothe these problems. All you have to do is wash a cucumber (or steal two slices from the dining hall) and apply to your eyes. Keep them there for 15-20 minutes. You will feel relaxed and looking better in no time.
5. Meditate
Meditation is not overrated. This actually helps a lot. There’s plenty of apps to download that help focus your energy and bring it inward. This helps to relieve the tensions in your muscles built up throughout the day. Just simple breathing techniques can have you feeling refreshed and revitalized. When you close your eyes, picture a white board written with all your stressors. Erase the board with your mind and let all your worries disappear.
