What ASU's Win Over Kansas Means For The Rest Of The Season

After a magnificent win over the number-one team in the country, we can conclude multiple things: these guys don't give up and they are most definitely ready for conference play. From my standpoint, Coach Bobby Hurley has done an excellent job of getting these young men ready throughout the preseason from the strenuous tournaments, facing a tougher preseason than most Pac-12 schools, and what everyone is talking about these days...beating Kansas.

After only being placed at the number 17 spot in the AP Top 25, the Sun Devils should have a chip on their shoulders and be ambitious as ever because I'm sure they believe they deserve to be at the top, but the only way to get there is through more hard work and giving 100% every game, and I'm sure Coach Hurley is wholly aware.

Looking at the rest of the Pac-12, everyone else seems to be trying to find their footing still. Last week Arizona barely skimmed by UC Davis, Colorado suffered back to back losses by Indiana State and Hawaii, Cal lost to Fresno State, and Stanford lost to San Francisco. Perhaps they were just off games for these teams, but all evidence currently points positively in favor of the Sun Devils for the regular season.

It's important not to get too ahead of ourselves, since what we witnessed last year where ASU was number two in the nation, but then proceeded to fall from grace and end the year by being beaten out by Syracuse to get into the March Madness tournament. At this point, we should just keep faith in Coach Hurley and his players. After the loss to Vanderbilt, Coach Hurley said that they would focus in practice to be prepared for Kansas and they did just that, so this win poses as a sign of great things coming.

A special shoutout to Rob Edwards for being named Pac-12 player of the week.

ASU will finish out their preseason facing Princeton at the Wells Fargo Arena on December 29th before moving into the regular season to play Utah on January 3rd.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
