Without her, everything I have done wouldn't have been possible.

Mom Is The Reason I Survived My Freshman Year Of College

Sometimes, college can be too much. There are times where you have papers, exams, assignments and work galore.

There are times where your roommate could be bothering you, your love life can be hectic and you feel like you never have time to yourself while at school.

During these times, plenty of us, including myself, get so stressed out and just want to leave it all behind.

Of course, we all go to our friends and voice our frustrations, and they tend to give us advice...but no friend does it quite as well as your mom.

Even if your friends say the same exact thing as your mom, it is still just better hearing it come from her.

So, mom, with that being said, I want to say thank you.

If it weren’t for you I would not have made it through my first year of college.

This year has been very stressful for me between academics, friendships, living transitions, work and relationships. You have been there through it all.

Through the occasional weekends I spent sadly at home, every single time I ranted on the phone and every breakdown I may have had in person, you have been so patient and kind.

You let me freak out and be upset, you let me wallow in my sadness and when it is time to be picked back up, you push me to get there.

You listen to me during my hard times, let me cry on your shoulder and you give me guidance. When I cannot make up my mind or be decisive, you keep me level-headed and logical.

You give me the strength to persevere through my hardships.

There have been countless times that you have told me that crying over boys is stupid, that I deserve a break from working so hard or that I just need to go out with friends.

I tend to be hard on myself, but you always keep me grounded. You always encourage me to experience life before stress.

You have taught me through my struggles this year that everything is going to be alright.

Even when my mind tells me it will not be OK, it always will be in the end.

During my good times, you always check in with me. I call you with every accomplishment, piece of good news or update I may have.

I come home, and you let me tell you endless stories about the crazy amount of interviews I have had or how work went during the week.

You have supported me in whatever I wanted or continue to do.

One of my favorite things you have ever said to me is, “I am so proud of you. You are a joy. You want something and you make it happen because you are a force of nature. I love you.”

I am so thankful for you. No matter what I do, I know you are always right beside me. You always support all my endeavors and pursuits and you make me feel so accomplished.

You’ve always been there for me and have always been on my side no matter what.

I could not have made it without you because you are the one person I go to for advice, and you are always the person I want to see if I need to relax.

You are my best friend.

We may not do everything together, but every moment with you feels like a moment with my soul mate, the light of my life. I love hanging out with you, I never get sick of you and most of all, I love you.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
