I Asked Both Sides, What's Your Perfect Date?

"I'd have to say April 25th, because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket."

Ah, the cliche pageant girl question- describe your perfect date. I've heard many girls in my lifetime answer this question (perhaps the most memorable heard in "Miss Congeniality"), but I have to say I haven't heard many guys answer it. And I gotta tell ya, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that was an issue I just had to address.

I decided to conduct a little social experiment this week- ask both males and females alike what their idea of a perfect date is. I've listed a few of the responses below for you, so we can compare and contrast together. I hope you laugh as much as I did.

Guy #1: "Doing something enjoyable together, like cooking or planting succulents, while watching a favorite movie. Something simple, yet thoughtful."

Guy #2: "Ordering pizza and playing Fortnite together. I'd wife her up."

Guy #3: "Grabbing food or coffee and then we do an activity that involves walking around (like hiking) that lets us appreciate where we are and the memory we're making. We finish by going back home and sitting somewhere while talking, preferably with a view."

Guy #4: "Supercross."

Guy #5: "I like really low key dates. Just bring some food over and watch movies for a while."

Guy #6: "Something like laser tag, mini golf, a movie, or a game night. Then definitely food."

Guy #7: "I'll go on a hiking date any day. It's a good way to get a workout in, plus the view's amazing. And I'm not just talking about the landscape." *Insert winking face emoji here*

Guy #8: "I'd go to a concert with her. I can show her my favorite type of music and then when it's over, we can grab some after-show munchies."

Guy #9: "Pick her up (and always open the door for her, obviously). Take her to a nice dinner, like a suit and nice dress style. Take her to a low key spot where we can watch the stars and talk, then head home and get comfy with some ice cream and a movie."

A quick recap of the guys' ideas: So food seems like a major theme here, right? I'm also noticing that even among only 9 different men, there's a vast difference in what everybody likes to do the most. Very interesting, but the food part? Yes, sign me up. Now moving onto the girls.

Girl #1: "Picnic at night under the stars, then a nice walk."

Girl #2: "Enjoying each other's company and going to a sporting event (preferably NFL or MLB)."

Girl #3: "Nothing fancy. Maybe going to dinner, but overall just being able to sit and talk with them."

Girl #4: I think a perfect date would be a dinner that he cooks or you cook together because then you'd be able to talk about interests while you're doing something together and it shows your compatibility."

Girl #5: "My perfect date is a coffee or brunch date (as basic as that may sound), especially if it's a first date because it's way less intimidating and formal than dinner."

Girl #6: I think my idea of a perfect date is just walking around the city and talking, then going for ice cream or a movie after if you want."

Girl #7: "To me, it's something outdoorsy like horseback riding, paint-balling, or shooting range, followed by a dinner you can get all dressed up for and maybe a movie after!"

Girl #8: "For me, it's something more fun than romantic. Some of my favorite dates with my boyfriend were going to the carnival or fair, doing something crafty like making a gingerbread house or something, and then going out to dinner or taking a walk in the park."

Girl #9: "The perfect date would be doing something where you can have fun and get to know them at the same time, like bowling or mini golfing or cooking. It definitely ends with ice cream though."

A quick recap of the girls' ideas: Again, I'm noticing a theme- we like to walk and talk a lot, don't we? Also, the food thing is definitely noticeable with girls, too. I guess we all like to eat, huh?

Well, there you have it. Now that my little social experiment is over, I have to say that, besides the food and talking themes, we're for the most part unique in our ideas. Everyone has distinct likes that you may just have to discover for yourself by taking the plunge!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
