Love is an interesting topic. It can be perceived as many different things and in many different ways. For the most part, we, as young adults, see love as being a feeling or an emotion towards another person. I decided to conduct a survey and ask kids, yes kids, between the ages of three and 10 years old “What is love?” The answers I got were both hilarious and heart melting.
- “I don’t know… I can’t really explain it? How do you explain it? I don't know…. Love is something your parents give you.”
- “Love is getting a million hugs and kisses whenever I need them from my mom. I know she loves me when I’m having a hard time with something and she lets me take a break, relax, and try again when I’m calmer, instead of screaming at me. I know she loves me because she brings me to to do all the things I love to do, even when sometimes it means she can't do something she wants to do. Oh, and I know I love her when sometimes I say she can do something she wants to do even if it means I can’t do something I want to. I guess love is lots of different things.”
- “My mommy is love. Oh, and daddy, he's love too!”
- “Seeing someone's true colors and accepting them for what they feel inside and not what they look like.”
- “Love is seeing everyone happy, that's what makes my day happy and my cousins are love and make me happy too!”
- “I think love is a kind thing even though people are mean to you, also love is when God loves all creatures.”
- “Love is Jesus, mommy, and daddy.”
- “Love is something you feel when you really like someone.”
- “Love is being kind and helpful.”
- “Love is being nice and kind.”
- "Love is kindness and I don't know... Just being kind"
- "Love is when mommy lets you eat donuts in the morning before school."
It's obvious kids have no filter and are super honest. They are so sweet and innocent, children are the epitome of love.
