As I Grew Up, My Adventurous And Spontaneous Side Also Grew

It's a great time to just go somewhere.

In my life so far, I haven't traveled much. I've been to different places around my state as well as different places in the states around me, but most of those trips were because of sports, or my church or club/group that I was a part of was going. Nevertheless, I decided to go and had tons of fun. But my sense of adventure and spontaneity didn't come until was in my early twenties.

When I first got my license, the longest and farthest I drove was probably about forty-five minutes from where I lived. The longer trips, there was always someone else that drove. Not because I didn't want to or anything. That's just how it was. I was fine with it. I got to look out the window, listen to music, and pretend that I was in a music video. I got to hang out with my friends, and not have to worry about keeping my eyes on the road. I could just relax and have fun.

Then during my gap year, I took some ministry classes where I had to drive an hour and forty-five minutes to and from one weekend a month. Now, that's not that bad, and I've been to this area before. But! I never drove up there by myself. It was either someone else driving, or there was someone else in the car while I was driving. So, I grew a lot in that year. It took time for me to adjust to driving for a longer distance by myself. This helped me to grow in my driving. Trust me, I wasn't as good as I thought I was, and I learned that really quick during this year. (For the record, I was never a bad driver. I just wasn't great at it either. But hey, practice makes perfect).

After my gap year, I went to college about an hour and fifteen minutes away from my hometown. Again, not super far away, but still further than I was used to, and in an area that I wasn't too familiar with. Driving back and forth to college helped me grow too.

Now, I love driving more than ever, and I just want to drive around and explore. On my trips, I stop at places that I usually just drive by instead of going straight home to check them out. I decided to take random trips to places that I never visited before. There are still several places that I want to travel to, but I'm going to visit one by one.

My sense of adventure has grown in the past couple years, and I'm becoming more spontaneous. And it's a good thing. It makes life way more fun. You get to step out of your comfort zone. You get to see things that you haven't seen before, and learn new things. I suggest you get the travel bug as well, and just start to explore. No matter if it's in your own backyard, or somewhere thousand miles away. I'm glad that I decided to step out of my comfort zone. Because I've seen some pretty cool places, and I don't regret anything.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
