Fall is a wonderful season full of family, food, and fun. Leaves are changing color, fruits are ripening and pumpkin spice is in the air. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and family members are arriving to reunite over a picturesque dinner. Here are four arts and crafts ideas to keep your younger family members occupied during the feast.
1. Tape-Painted Pumpkins
You will need some pumpkins, tape, and paint. Make a design out of tape on the pumpkin, and then cover the pumpkin in paint. After the paint dries, remove the tape to reveal a cool design using negative space.
2. Tabletop Turkeys
For this craft, you will need a paper cup, a pom-pom, construction paper, googly eyes and some glue. First, paint the paper cup brown. Then, glue the pom-pom to the bottom of the cup. Cut feather shapes from various colors of construction paper, and glue them to the side of the cup. Cut out a beak, a wattle and some feet, and add those to your turkey. Finish with two googly eyes.
3. Balloon Turkeys
For this project, you will need a balloon, construction paper, googly eyes and glue. Cut some feather shapes of various colors from construction paper, then glue those to an inflated balloon. Add a beak and a wattle, and finish with some googly eyes.
4. Hand Turkeys
Oldie but goodie. All you need are some colored pencils or crayons and a hand. Trace the hand and color in a creative turkey. The possibilities are endless! You could also cut out the hand turkeys and hang them up around the house for a festive decoration.
