My first album I ever bought (or my mom bought for me, thanks, mom) was Gwen Stefani's album "Love. Angel. Music. Baby."in 2004. I was six years old at the time and completely obsessed with Gwen, still am, to be honest, but that's beside the point. Fast forward to my first concert, 5 Seconds of Summer in 2015, and I remember feeling the exact same excitement, and love for music back when I got my first album.
I compiled some of my favorite artists and their songs which I highly recommend taking a listen to. Who knows, you might even find yourself recommending others to listen to them also.
1. Ballyhoo!
I love the slight reggae feel Ballyhoo! adapts into their music while still keeping a rock sound. And it reminds of how I prefer to be at a beach surrounded by sand and salt water compared to the rows of corn and grassland I'm surrounded by.
Songs to check out:
"Mixtape"
"Alcohol Looks Beautiful Tonight"
"Beach Party"
2. Hippo Campus
My friend loves Hippo Campus and introduced them to me this past year. Hippo Campus has a unique sound in almost every song and I love the different beats and melodies they use throughout their songs. And they are perfect for those late night drives through town with friends and the windows down are down with music blasting from the speakers.
Songs to take a listen too:
"Bashful Creatures"
"Violet"
"Way It Goes"
3. Bastille
Okay, I know almost everyone knows who Bastille is from their greatest singles, but I love the music they produce. The different sounds they incorporate for the background just makes their songs so groovy. Do yourself a favor, and check out more of their songs besides the ones on the radio.
Preferable favorites:
"These Streets"
"Laughter Lines"
"Lethargy"
4. The Japanese House
I love that The Japanese House has an electronic sound yet with a little bit of rock and pop feel to their songs with softer, upbeat sounds in their melodies. And I love the rhythm of the music throughout their songs. Their music is great for when cleaning around the house or just driving around.
Rhythmic Songs to jam out too:
"Swim Against the Tide"
"Sister"
"Saw You In a Dream"
5. With Confidence
More of a punk-rock sound, With Confidence music is great music to dance around too, especially when packing for college. You might find yourself headbanging along with an air guitar and air drums in the midst of trying to pack.
Songs to get you through packing:
"Godzilla"
"London Lights"
"Waterfall"
6. James Arthur
I know most of everyone has heard James Arthur but I just absolutely love his music. Head on over to Spotify to check out the rest of his album and other works. And his music is perfect for those rainy days when all you want is quiet music while be chilling around the house.
Rainy Day Songs:
"Safe Inside"
"Say You Won't Let Go"
"Remember Who I Was"
7. P!nk
I know for sure that if not everyone, but almost everyone has listened to a song by P!nk at some point in their lives growing up. I absolutely love P!nk and I keep on holding onto the hope that she releases an album before the end of the year. A girl's got to dream.
Rock-Feel Songs to jam too:
"So What" (such a head-banger)
"Just Like A Pill"
"Trouble"
These are just a few of my favorite artists and their songs but I could make a list that goes on forever ranging anywhere from Classic Rock Hits to Today's Pop Hits.
