Mick Jenkins, a hip hop artist, originally known as Jayson Mick Jenkins, born on April 16, 1991. Jenkins received buzz after being featured on Chance the Rapper’s new mixtape “Coloring Book”, also being a Chicago native. Mick Jenkins now has roughly 170,000 followers on his SoundCloud, 45 tracks, and countless features and collaborations. Jenkins has 3 mixtapes prior to his debut album “The Healing Component”, featuring 15 tracks all with an underlying indigo message, and uses several water analogies in water=enlightenment/knowledge. His unique sound and message will have you hooked, along with his impressive music videos, such as “Drowning” featuring the Toronto-based jazz quartet BADBADNOTGOOD, which refers to the story of Eric Garner, a black man strangled by police.

Jenkins first mixtape was released on January 13, 2012, "The Mickstape", followed by "The Pursuit of HappyNess", and "The Story of Mickalascage. He also now has 4 albums under his belt, "The Healing Component", "Waves", ""Trees & Truths", and "The Waters".

If you enjoy sub- rap, hip hop music, jazz, or can appreciate any form of good music, Mick Jenkins is for you. He strays from traditional hip hop beats and incorporates several different sounds into his tracks, standing out from other hip hop artists. He preaches a message in his work, with compelling and real current issues. His music videos are also another playing field, each one giving the viewer a presentation of real life events. Jenkins may still be up and coming, but his work is definitely worth a listen.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
