How An Artist Brings People Together

It's more than just a concert.

How An Artist Brings People Together

People are quick to judge a group of fans for individual actions, but what about the things that happen when they all come together?

Last week, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to two Justin Bieber concerts. It all happened because my friend Rachel and I were lucky enough to be able to do so. I know what a lot of people are thinking. "You already have tickets, why go to another?" Well I'll tell you why.

When I was in seventh grade, I found Justin Bieber on YouTube before he become a big thing. As I watched his rise to fame, I've become friends with a lot of people due to the fact that we all like the same artist. A multitude of people have had the same thing happen to them involving different artists. But what really matters is what an artist does to bring people together.

The sole fact that I was so excited to go to another concert wasn't just because I was able to see my favorite singer again. It was because of the feeling of being around people who can relate to you. Being so in love with Justin Bieber for many years has brought me a lot of criticism. But no matter what anyone said, I never listened because Justin Bieber is who I like and it didn't ever matter to me what other people thought about my music taste.

Being able to be in one room with tons of other people who literally feel the exact same way you do is one of the best feelings ever. Before the concert started, Rachel and I waited outside his tour bus. One, because we wanted to see if he came out. And two, because everyone there related to us and our fangirling. We walked away to participate in a radio contest and someone got this picture of him.

Music can do incredible things to people. In a society where we seem to constantly be battling each other, it's amazing to have one thing be so powerful. Not only music, but the artists themselves.

What Justin Bieber has done for his fans is something unbelievable. Like I said earlier, what other people think about my music taste does not phase me because being able to go to a concert and feel so at home is a feeling that's hard to come by. Bieber has been by his fans' side since the beginning and never fails to show it. Throughout his journey, we have always been there. Being next to people who understand you, being next to people you understand, is amazing.

A group of fans that can come together from a multitude of different backgrounds can prove something to everyone. We all have one thing that brings us together. Music brings us together. The artists bring us together. It's an incredible feeling and everyone deserves to experience it. Artists have so much more power than they realize and it's a wonderful thing.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
