Who Says That They Are Not Forms Of Art?

Stop telling me that writing isn't art. There are double standards for writing, painting, drawing and music. Recently, I posted one of my articles on this artist Facebook page and I guess an administrator of the page commented and said, "This is not an art." Then, they removed my article from the facebook page. I was mad at first, then started to question my abilities as an award-winning writer, which depressed me. That was a difficult 15 minutes. I decided to channel these feelings into Odyssey.

The only reason they removed it is because I talked about sex which bothered me because artists post paintings of vaginas and penises on the website and get likes, shares, appreciation and admiration.I was very offended because on the website description it clearly says that we accept all posts of drawings, paintings, and writing. And just to clear the record short stories, long stories and novellas are not the only forms of art when it comes to writing.

Articles count as art too.

One day a guy posted multiple paintings of different colored vaginas. It received a plethora of likes, shares, and admiration but my article gets taken down. I fail to notice how paintings and drawings of anatomy are more artistic than someone writing about that topic. We can both agree that writing is art but only when it's what somebody wants to read I guess. A lot if people want to read short stories, long stories, poems but articles matter too. Poets and Journalists sometimes get left out or forgotten but our pieces matter. We exist.

Art is suggestive and it can exist in many forms. One thing it is not is vulgar, offensive, and distasteful. As long as art expresses your emotions, feelings, views, imagination and opinions there are no rules. There are no limitations on creativity.

I certainly am tired of these double standards. On FineartAmerica.com there's genitalia art for sale. For sale! There is a sculpture of a placid penis in a jar for $44 dollars but I can't share an article about a real story. It just happened to involve sex. Sex is real. If you want to check it out, its called I Keep Walking In On My Roommate Having Sex. Even without that page's permission to post my article, it received the most views I've ever had. I'm not a page view junkie but it does feel kind of good.

Here is some food for thought. We all are able to express our feelings and opinions as paintings, drawings, songs and any form of writing. This is what I'm doing but it's in the form of an article. Isn't that what art is about?

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
