3 Reasons I Will Miss Trinity International University

Four years have flown by faster than I ever thought they would. As a naive freshman, I remember thinking that I would stay in college two maybe three years and then probably transfer or drop out because there was no way I could actually graduate like everyone was expecting me to. But here I am, second semester of my senior year writing about how I am going to miss the place I thought I would never stay in.

Here are three reasons that college has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.

1. Community

Yes I know, this word is used so commonly in this subject matter, but it is so true! When I came to visit Trinity my senior year of high school, it was not a very big school. What I did observe was I saw math majors being great friends with a men's basketball player. Music majors were friends with education majors. Basically, everyone was a big family! That is why I wanted to be a part of the community as well. Sure there are problems with every college, but during my collegiate career, it is so encouraging to me to know that the friends I have made here are going be my friends forever. That is a gift that I will always be grateful for.

2. Dining Services

I do not know how the rest of colleges operate, but I am so grateful to the dining services at Trinity. Whenever I come to the dining hall, I get to talk to all the cooks and dining workers, and they just happen to be the nicest people in the world. They listen to you and they actually care about how your week is going rather than just putting in the time for their job. The compassion of the dining workers has encouraged me in the hardest times of the semester.

I also like the dining hall at Trinity because of the themed meals. We always have major holiday meals which is our amazing, but we also have beach day meals and my favorite meal day, soup and bread bowl bar!

3. Spontaneous Plans

Another great thing about my college experience has been the amazing things that have happened with no plan whatsoever. The college that I go to is very small, so when sometimes you have to get creative when you hang out with your friends. Something that is always fun is playing live action mafia with twenty other people around campus, another is going to Denny's for some late night pancakes or jamming with your friends until 1 am. These fun spur of the moment trips expand your friendships with people and make for so many great memories.

These are only a couple things I have enjoyed about my college experience, and am grateful for the time I have left at school to make more memories! I would love to hear from you college students out there what you have enjoyed.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
