What's with the stigma that art is only paintings or pictures? Art is all around us. In fact, it's in everything we do. From how we dress ourselves to how we socialize with others, because in technical terms socializing is a type of performing. Whether it's performing the true emotions we are feeling at the time or putting on a facade, no one will ever truly know but us. And that is a type of art.
The other day, in class my professor said, "knowing about art allows your life to be bigger." She's absolutely right, by knowing about art and cherishing each and everything I encounter allows my life to be bigger in a way. To be fulfilled with more than just the single purpose of existing.
Art can create greatness. Think about all those times you've heard a mesmerizing song that you just can't get enough of, it's art. The movie you saw the other day that made you laugh so hard, tears were rolling down your face, it's art. The way your furniture and decor is set about in the house/apartment, it's art. Or even the way you can see galaxies in someone's eyes. All of it is art, and all of it is prevalent in the lives we lead every day.
With art you find that everything you could imagine is interconnected in some type of way. That with your knowledge of art you shield yourself from the negativity that seems to always be around in our society. You will be able to find joy in the small things in life.
In life we are so concerned with living within the box and not daring to go outside because we might be ridiculed or something so deliberately stupid, that we forget we are our own person. We can easily go outside of that box, diving right out of our comfort zone and try something we never thought we'd like. You don't ever realize it, but you are the artist of your life, do you want your "painting" to look like everyone else's or to be abstract and different enough to depict all the amazing times in your life?
