A couple weeks back, the CW aired the season finales for "Arrow" and "The Flash," and, well, wow to both shows. Both shows were able to bring some of the highest viewing ratings to the network in recent years. A lot of stuff went down in both finales, so I decided to take a look into them a bit more. As usual, spoilers are ahead, you have been warned.

Let’s first discuss what went on in the "Arrow" finale. To provide a quick recap of things this season, we have Oliver and Felicity return to Star City after Laurel and Thea ask for his help to stop Damien Darhk. Oliver and Felicity got engaged and then broke it off. The team started to fall apart a bit after Laurel’s death (Two weeks later and I am still mad about that.) Thea fights with her father the whole season and accidentally plays a hand in the arrival of DC Comics villain Anarky. Darhk tries to launch nuclear missiles, which Felicity and co-worker Curtis Holt stop, and then Darhk decides to destroy the whole damn planet. In the end, Oliver kills Dark and saves the city.

Now that you got that recap, let’s discuss the very end of the episode where a lot happens. So after all that, Thea and Diggle decide to stop and then leave Oliver to defend the city. Ummm, weren’t they the ones who had Oliver and Felicity drop what they were doing to help them? Yeah, not cool there. For those of you who love the couple Felicity and Oliver, they are kind of in a Rachel-Ross situation (sort of on a break but still in love with each other). At least the two OGs of team Arrow are now going to be running things again, right? Speaking of running things, Oliver is now the mayor of Star City after the current mayor got killed and no one else decided to run.

Personally, I was not a fan of how the season ended. While the writers have now brought Curtis Holt into the Arrow-verse (the DC Comics hero Mr. Terrific), the whole Arrow team is disbanded. Thea (aka Speedy) and Diggle (aka Spartan) left and Laurel (aka Black Canary) died, leaving an extremely broken team. It was very odd that Thea and Diggle left the team, especially since they were the ones who had Oliver come back. Oliver is also the mayor now, so I do not think he will have time to be switching into that green hood anytime soon. Oliver also kills again at the end of the season, having a relapse into who he used to be when the show started. Given the season finale, I question if there will be a remotely decent plot for the next season. I still like the show, but I am losing interest fast. To see the very ending of the finale, watch here:

Now that I dumped that negative (yet accurate) judgement of "Arrow," let’s talk about the ending for "The Flash." Normally, I would provide a season recap of the show here. However, considering the show dealt with a lot of time travel and the concept of the multiverse this season, I think I will confuse myself or overthink how to provide a basic season synopsis. I will say this: Professor Zoom came, he tried to conquer the multiverse, but The Flash stopped him. You may need to Google a basic synopsis of the season here.

OK, now I can talk about the very ending of this finale, which was insane! Barry, now having lost his father, decides to go back in time yet again to save his mother from being killed by the Reverse Flash. I found this to be quite surprising. At the end of the last season, Barry went back to that point in time and did not intervene at all to save his mother. However, now that he lost yet another parent, he decided that enough was enough and decided to make sure the Reverse Flash does not take away his mother.

Initially, I was wondering what the third season would be like since Barry’s mother never dying will clearly affect his future. I was recently talking to one of my friends about this and he brought up something that I never considered. The third season could make use of DC’s Flashpoint Paradox.

For those fans who do not know about this (do not worry, I needed it explained to me as well), these comics shows different outcomes for a defining moment in a superhero’s life (a moment that results in the creation of that hero). For example, Flashpoint Batman shows what would happen if Bruce Wayne dies and his parents lived (Thomas becomes a scary Batman, Martha becomes The Joker). In Flashpoint, Barry Allen does not become The Flash since his mother was not killed when he was a kid. Will they do this at all for the third season? Maybe, but I guess we will have to wait until next television season.

For a look at the ending of the finale, watch it here:

The CW will have its work cut out for it for these shows’ next seasons. "Arrow" will definitely need to up its game next season to maintain viewership. "The Flash" will be interesting next season with the potential use of the Flashpoint series for it. The network will also be focusing on the superhero shows "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl" for the next viewing season. Let’s hope the shows will still hold viewer interest!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
