While America's head is still reeling over the results of the recent election, several other serious matters of business have been going unnoticed; like the fact that the United States Army just signed an eviction notice, demanding the protestors of the Dakota Access Pipeline retreat from their encampment.
Citing the harsh oncoming North Dakota winter as a threat to the protestors' safety, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is demanding vacancy by December 5th. The corps has also stated that rising tension levels and clashes between police and protestors has posed a continuous threat to public safety. While the army has assured the public that it will not forcibly remove protestors, it will declare the sites of protest as no longer public property, therefore protestors could be prosecuted for trespassing.
Barring any potential federal intervention, the pipelines' construction is still on track and will cut through Sioux territory.
