The Army vs. Navy Football Game. There's nothing else on television like it (Not even the Puppy Bowl can compare.)
The Washington Times has called this game "An All-American Tradition 'Bigger Than Football.'"
The game isn't about the football -- it's about something much bigger. All of the players aren't looking to go to the NFL after their college careers. They're the men who are going to defend our country. The cheerleaders, the bands, the men and women there from each school to cheer on their teams -- they will all be the ones defending our freedom after they finish their time at their respective schools.
Every year, each school produces Spirit Spots, which encourage the friendly rivalry -- especially among the Cadets (Army) and Midshipmen (Navy).
This year, the Navy produced a Spirit Spot inspired by "Star Wars," in light of the highly anticipated new movie, which was released on December 17.

The Army took on a trailer-esque approach to the Spirit Spot this year, as they hoped to beat Navy for the first time in 13 years. (Ultimately, the Navy defended their win for the 14th straight year.)

It's a game that allows a friendly rivalry to come to it's climax. We want our teams to win, and to have the bragging rights for the next year -- until game time comes around again!
Sometimes it's hard to describe why the Army Navy game is so important and so amazing to watch. First, it's one of the most sportsman-like games you will ever watch. Although on opposing sides, these are the men who will be fighting for our freedom, side-by-side with one another.
During the pregame ceremonies, there is traditionally a "prisoner exchange," where Midshipmen (Navy) and Cadets (Army) who are studying at the sister Academy are returned to their respective Academy for the game. Along with the march on, the pregame ceremonies are one the most important parts of the game.
After the game has ended, both teams sing their alma mater with their students. Except with Army-Navy, the winning team stands behind the losing team, showing their support and respect for their brothers and sisters. When the winning team sings with their students, the losing team stands behind them as well -- again showing their respect and support.
Next year, be sure to tune into the Army vs. Navy game. An incredible game of football, with major bragging rights on the line. Next year, the 117th game will be played. Navy will be hoping to win for the 15th consecutive year, and Army will attempt to break the streak.
