I love to travel, especially to visit my grandparents' house in New Jersey. But as someone from the Valley of the Sun, heading to places that are a lot cooler and more humid can get... sticky.
Everything is greener.
GiphyAfter trading mountains, sand, and 37 different shades of beige for trees as far as the eye can see, you have to ask yourself "Can this many shades of green really exist?".
Humidity is a thing.
GiphyIt might be 85° instead of 105°, but the humidity factor changes things. Suddenly, you can't seem to get dry, you could cut the air with a pair of scissors, and you're just... moist all the time. Do you dare miss the dry heat of home?
The cities are harder to navigate.
Trading Phoenix's grid system for the twists, turns, and curves of some of these Eastern towns is... interesting, to say the least.
Like... so much greener.
GiphyThe grass is not only real, but pillowy soft! You can roll down hills! Sunlight shines through the trees, leaves whisper softly to you as you escape into a wonderland of forests.
People associate Arizona with California
Giphy"You're not that far from LA, right? Like you just go visit all the time."
The ocean isn't the same.
GiphyThe North Atlantic is much saltier than the Pacific. While the water might be a little colder than California, there's still a great boardwalk scene to explore!
The tacos are truly disappointing
GiphyIt only takes one meal to realize that nowhere but Arizona can offer the authenticity you crave. Except maybe Mexico itself.
People brag to you about visiting the Grand Canyon
How do we forget that we have a natural wonder of the world basically in our backyards?
You actually sort of miss Arizona.
GiphyIt might be ridiculously hot, but knowing the Grand Canyon state is where you call home is a source of pride.
