The kick is wide left! Michigan State's kicker misses the possible game-tying field goal as ASU holds onto a 10-7 lead. Michigan State's kicker Matt Coghlin had made the first field goal attempt, however, there was a flag where MSU had 12 guys out on the field which created a five-yard penalty. The second attempt not even close as you could see the sun devil This game felt like deja vu as the matchup last season led to a three-point victory over the spartans!
This game completely shocked me as ASU has not had a real test this season when it comes to the opponents they have faced. The devil's defense held a Big Ten offense to under 500 total yards and they even had a recovered fumble during the first half. No one could've predicted that the young defense of ASU could come into East Lansing, Michigan and hold the ranked opponent to one touchdown.
The Sun Devils make a statement and show their presence in the PAC-12 as they now stand with a 3-0 record. People expected this team to not perform this well. However, Arizona State has scored more than seven points in 137 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the FBS, according to a recap from ESPN.
ASU freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels started the game out slow. It wasn't until his team absolutely needed it until he gave the sun devils the drive they needed. Late in the 4th quarter, Daniels led the offense 77 yards down the field on 11 plays. I saw the clutch moment that makes Jayden Daniels live up to the hype as he completed a successful run of 15 yards for a first down on fourth-and-13 in MSU territory. ASU looks to stay undefeated as they go up against CU Boulder at home.
Expect the Sun Devil fan base to pack the stands at Sun Devil Stadium as they look to kick-off conference play undefeated. Especially with the fact that ASU is no longer a forgotten football program as they now crack into the AP top 25 rankings. The Sun Devils enter week 4 being the number 24 ranked team in the nation!
