Area 51 NEEDS to be the new Coachella site

Unless you live under a rock, you witnesses the #stormarea51 Internet movement and all the memes that came along with it this summer. Although some of us thought it was just a joke, people actually showed up to Area 51 and made it a music festival. Should Area 51 be the new Coachella?

Area 51 NEEDS to be the new Coachella site

Last weekend, the Area 51 storm actually took place in Rachel Nevada. If you're a social media user you saw all the Meme Lords tweet and share actual videos of people that showed up to the Facebook event. The Naruto runners made an iconic and memorable moment that was even captured by the news, which according to Twitter was the first meme of this event. Of course, people weren't able to storm Area 51 or even tried to break in since it was highly secured with the military. If there were to be real aliens and evidence, the government was highly prepared for it and people had been warned before.

There were people holding actual signs of "clap them alien cheeks" outside and the military was trying their best to remain professional and perform their job. According to people that attended, it was the weirdest experience. It all began on the Internet because of a meme, and it just shows how social media brings people together. Let's not be so serious for a moment, although we all know it was nothing but a joke... it was pretty iconic. There was a music festival right outside, were people dressed in rave clothing and showed their respect for "green lives matter." The real question is; should Area 51 be the new Coachella?

Let's embrace it, this generation is the coolest generation in history and although we truly care about solving world issues, we are a humorous generation that knows how to share a good laugh. The "raid" wasn't an actual raid, people came along to share the experience among people of similar interest and humor. People were pretty aware of the consequences and the government had made them pretty clear, but to some, it was a life-changing experience. Area 51, should be the new Coachella. It is nothing but a celebration, that some truly believe aliens exist and the share-bonding experience with other Internet users.

The internet has already taken over us, and it continues to change and shape our society. This ever-lasting social media fever is legit. Dating partners are already meeting online, and with a simple friend request or follow is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. It is quite depressing to think about, but the internet has in fact taken over us. This historic moment brought people from all over the country together; just like the music festival of Coachella. It was mostly a target to this generation and Generation Z. Imagine a world with a Coachella truly dedicated to Area 51 and green lives, where everyone peacefully celebrates.

We shall wait until next year, and see how it slowly develops into a bigger event.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows.
